Barcelona, Spain, April 8, 2026 — Chery Automobile officially announced the opening of its European Operations Center and simultaneously launched the Chery Spain R&D Institute. This is Chery's first overseas regional operations center and will serve as the central platform for the company's European business, integrating functions such as operations, compliance, supply chain coordination, finance, and public affairs. It marks a key milestone in Chery's globalization strategy.

For Chery, Europe is not only a key market in its globalization strategy, but also a strategic location for driving innovation, enhancing core competitiveness, and achieving sustainable development. At the launch ceremony, Chery Automobile Chairman Yin Tongyue said: "We are setting up the European Operations Center in Barcelona and building it into Chery's key operational hub in Europe, precisely because we hope to build a system that better understands Europe and better serves the European market." Behind these words is Chery's long-standing strategic commitment to In somewhere, For somewhere, Be somewhere. Today, that commitment is being translated into tangible market returns.

Data shows that Chery has now entered 18 European markets, has served more than 100,000 users in the region, and is expected to maintain strong growth momentum in the coming years. From January to February this year, Chery's sales in the UK and EU markets reached 39,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 200%; during the same period, exports of new energy vehicles reached 11,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 250%. Particularly noteworthy is that for every 5 new energy vehicles Chery exports, 1 is sold in Europe. Since entering Spain in 2024, Chery's OMODA & JAECOO brand has surpassed 40,000 units in sales, becoming a leading brand in plug-in hybrid vehicles for private customers. In 2025, it even ranked among the top ten best-selling brands in Spain's private channel, with more than 80% of sales coming from new energy models, precisely matching Europe's green mobility consumer trend.

What supports this breakthrough is Chery's ability to "integrate into" Europe and continuously deepen localization. The European Operations Center and Spain R&D Institute launched this time are a concentrated embodiment of this philosophy. In addition to the European Operations Center, the simultaneously launched Spain R&D Institute will focus on electrification, intelligent mobility, and sustainable development, continue to invest in diverse technologies, and align with European standards in areas such as data protection, environmental responsibility, and compliance. Chery will create highly skilled jobs locally in fields such as engineering, innovation, product development, and operations, strengthen cooperation with local talent and institutions, promote the development of the local industrial ecosystem, truly develop "cars with a local flavor," and become "part of the local industrial ecosystem."

This deeply localized model has already borne fruit in Chery's EBRO project in Spain and in Chery's active participation in local public welfare initiatives in Spain. In 2024, Chery joined hands with EV MOTORS to revive Spain's national brand EBRO. The cooperation not only revitalized an idle factory in Barcelona, but also created more than 1,000 local jobs, and was praised by the governments and publics of both countries as "a model of China-Spain cooperation." Chery has also cooperated with IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and others to actively participate in restoring Spain's Mediterranean Posidonia seagrass beds, protecting the "lungs of the ocean," and fulfilling its responsibilities as a corporate citizen.

Guests attending the day's launch ceremony included Miquel Sàmper, Minister of Business and Labor of the Government of Catalonia; Antonio Balmón, Mayor of Cornellà de Llobregat in the Barcelona metropolitan area; Ning Bo, Secretary of the Wuhu Municipal Party Committee; Meng Yuhong, Chinese Consul General in Barcelona; and other Chinese and international representatives. Before the ceremony, the guests visited the EBRO factory in Zona Franca, witnessed a vehicle delivery event, and interacted with Chery's Mornine robots. The high-level government-enterprise interaction also indirectly confirms the recognition and support Chery has received in Europe.

From the first batch of passenger cars exported to the Middle East in 2001, to the landing of the EBRO cooperation project in Spain in 2024, and now to the official opening of the European Operations Center and Spain R&D Institute today, Chery has used 25 years of long-termism to forge a path of globalization advancement for a Chinese auto brand from "going out" to "going up" and then to "integrating in." As of now, Chery Group has more than 19 million cumulative global users, including 6.23 million overseas users, with business covering more than 130 countries and regions. Currently, for every 5 vehicles China exports, 1 comes from Chery. Chery is also the first Chinese auto brand to surpass 6 million cumulative exports and has maintained the top position in Chinese-brand passenger vehicle exports for 23 consecutive years.
