Recently, the list of winners of the 2025 National Science and Technology Awards was officially announced. BYD won 5 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in one go, becoming the automotive industry enterprise with the largest number of awarded projects in this year's selection, setting a new historical record for an enterprise winning national-level science and technology awards in a single round. At present, BYD has fully connected the core technologies of the entire new energy vehicle industry chain, with multiple indicators reaching internationally leading levels and successfully breaking overseas technological barriers.
The five awarded projects of BYD this time all focus on the core track of new energy vehicles, namely: intelligent quality control technology for resistance welding of thin-walled structures and its application in transportation equipment manufacturing, key technologies and applications of high-efficiency motor systems with ultra-high specific power and ultra-strong service capability, key technologies and industrialization of intelligent electric chassis with high safety, high fault tolerance, and high energy efficiency, key technologies and standards for measurement and control of high-safety, high-efficiency, and long-life power battery systems for new energy vehicles, and key technologies and standards system for high-precision modular collaborative robots. This series of innovative achievements is concentrated in key areas of new energy vehicles such as intelligent manufacturing equipment, high-efficiency motors, intelligent chassis, power battery systems, and collaborative robots, comprehensively demonstrating BYD's systematic innovation capability and technological depth across the entire industry chain.

From first leading the winning of a second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2020, to 3 achievements being listed in 2023, and now to winning 5 major awards in one go this time, the number of national-level science and technology awards obtained by BYD has continued to rise. Behind this are long-term unswerving high research and development investment and the support of a team of more than 120,000 R&D engineers. In 2025, BYD's R&D investment reached 63.4 billion yuan, and as of now, cumulative R&D investment has exceeded 250 billion yuan. Continuously increasing R&D investment has produced abundant technological achievements. Today, BYD has cumulatively applied for more than 71,000 patents globally and obtained more than 42,000 authorized patents, forming stable and sustainable technological reserves and iteration capabilities, gathering development momentum with technological strength, strongly promoting the realization of independent and controllable technologies in China's automotive industry, and helping the transformation of transportation energy and the building of a manufacturing powerhouse.

The National Science and Technology Awards were established by the State Council to reward citizens and organizations that have made outstanding contributions in scientific and technological progress activities, mobilize the enthusiasm and creativity of scientific and technological workers, accelerate the development of science and technology undertakings, and enhance comprehensive national strength. They represent the highest honor in China's science and technology field.
