With boundless anticipation for the XPeng X9, the editor attended XPeng's city road test drive event held at the Xi'an International Conference Center on March 23, gaining an in-depth experience of this intelligent large seven-seater all-electric MPV.

At the event site, Mr. Qi Yuesheng, store manager of XPeng Motors Xi'an Chang'an Sales and Service Center, introduced to us the subversion and leadership of the XPeng X9's intelligent technology, and under the leadership of test drivers, we test drove the XNGP full-scenario intelligent assisted driving system and the latest generation XOS Tianji intelligent cockpit system, which for the first time realized split-screen display of navigation map + N kinds of applications, as well as functions such as the XPeng X9's rear-wheel steering, allowing Peng friends on site to drive, relax, and intelligently enjoy springtime.

Empowered by the SEPA2.0 Smart Electric Platform Architecture, the XPeng X9 completely overturns the past market stereotypes of MPV models in terms of intelligence, space, driving control, and safety, bringing a new category that delivers a user experience from traditional to future, from difficult to drive to easy to drive, and from single-use to multi-use, meeting the increasingly personalized and diversified travel needs of today's consumers.

In people's conventional impressions, MPV models have nothing to do with the word "driving control." Apart from providing comfortable second- and third-row passenger space, they have no other highlights. On the XPeng X9, this has also been completely overturned. The chassis structure of the XPeng X9 has been newly tuned, with steering response improved by 30%, cornering limit grip performance improved by 9%, and high-speed stability improved by 30%. In addition, the XPeng X9 comes standard across the entire lineup with an active rear-wheel steering system and an intelligent dual-chamber air suspension system. Its turning diameter reaches 10.8 m, the smallest in its class, even smaller than that of "nimble" microcars, allowing the XPeng X9 to be as agile as driving a small car while also automatically adjusting suspension softness and firmness according to road conditions to ensure the most comfortable ride experience, completely eliminating the traditional MPV driving feeling of "driving a big car" and "being hard to drive."

To solve users' actual range anxiety, the XPeng X9 offers a solution with a standard 800V high-voltage SiC silicon carbide platform across the entire range + 3C battery cells. Under CLTC conditions, the XPeng X9 can achieve a maximum range of up to 702 km, with comprehensive energy consumption per 100 km of only 16.2 kWh under combined conditions, and charging for 10 min can add up to 300 km of range. In terms of performance, based on the application of the 800V XPower electric drive system, it can deliver a maximum power of 370 kW and a peak torque of 640 N·m, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of only 5.7 seconds and a top speed of up to 200 km/h, satisfying users' driving needs with abundant and continuous power.

Compared with the body structure of traditional MPV models, the XPeng X9 completely overturns people's traditional perception that MPVs are "not safe enough" in both body craftsmanship and detail workmanship. The XPeng X9 adopts a 2000MPa cage body, nineteen ring-shaped safety designs, and is composed of a combination of multiple high-strength steels and lightweight aluminum materials, achieving extreme lightweighting while ensuring body strength. At the same time, the XPeng X9 adopts the industry's first front and rear integrated aluminum die-casting body structure, with a maximum die-casting force of up to 12,000 tons and a vehicle torsional rigidity of 46,000 N·m/deg, reshaping the ceiling of MPV safety with solid hardware.

Helping the brand move upward, XPeng X9 accelerates the promotion of competition in the new energy market

For XPeng Motors, the just-passed 2023 was of extraordinary significance. The XPeng G6 and the 2024 XPeng G9 each demonstrated impressive sales results with solid product strength. While firmly ranking first in sales in their respective segments, they helped XPeng Motors achieve positive sales growth for 11 consecutive months in 2023, returning to the top camp of new forces with cumulative annual sales of 141,601 vehicles. At the same time, in terms of intelligent driving, the urban intelligent driving capability of XPeng's XNGP intelligent assisted driving system, on the basis of 52 cities already fully released, added coverage of 191 cities, bringing the total number of covered cities to 243, officially effective from January 2.
