Last night (October 17), at the Beijing National Speed Skating Oval, the Aion Ray7 officially opened pre-sales. 128,800–158,800 yuan, five versions. On October 18, it will also appear as the official vehicle of the Beijing Marathon on the 42.195-kilometer course. Da Ge gives the conclusion first: this car does not chase rivals by competing on screens and sofas, but instead stuffs hardware that should not appear in the 120,000-yuan class into the car one by one.

02 | Product highlights

Exterior: 5-meter body, 0.22Cd, the stance wins half the battle first

In terms of design, three memorable points.

The Aion Ray7 is positioned as a mid-to-large all-electric sedan, 4,960mm long, with a 2,920mm wheelbase, a width-to-height ratio of 1.3, and a low-slung, wide-body fastback stance. The officially announced drag coefficient is 0.22Cd. The front face uses a 3.25-meter "Quantum Star Ring" continuous light assembly with 3,678 LEDs built in, and the logo can illuminate. Lightning Yellow and Midsummer Purple are exclusive body colors, paired with frameless doors and semi-hidden door handles.

The front row uses integrated sport seats, supporting one-touch zero-gravity, ventilation/heating/massage. The infotainment system is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P chip, 24GB memory + 128GB storage, a 15.6-inch 2.5K central control screen, and is compatible with CarPlay and Huawei HiCar. The three-layer silver-plated panoramic roof is officially claimed to block 88% of solar energy and 99.99% of ultraviolet rays.

Powertrain: 9.7 kWh consumption, 702km range, rear-drive platform shows sincerity

The new car adopts a rear-mounted single-motor layout, with motor power of 180kW and an official 0-100 acceleration of 6.8 seconds. There are two battery options: the entry version has 45.58kWh and a CLTC range of 530km; the CATL version has 62.98kWh and a CLTC range of 702km. The official CLTC energy consumption is as low as 9.7kWh per 100 kilometers, equipped with Huawei DriveONE multi-in-one electric drive and Magazine Battery 2.0.

Chassis and braking: Huawei chip-level drive-brake fusion + EMB, stops in 32.8 meters

Officially, the Aion Ray7 is the first to be equipped with Huawei DriveONE chip-level drive-brake fusion architecture, paired with EMB full-wire-controlled braking, with a 100-0km/h braking distance of 32.8 meters and a braking response of 78 milliseconds. The suspension is front aluminum hybrid double wishbone + rear five-link, equipped with FSD adaptive damping shock absorbers. Even if all four wheel calipers fail, the official claim is that it can still stop safely.

Smart driving: 192-line lidar + L4-derived algorithm, brought down to the 150,000-yuan class

High-trim models are equipped with 192-line lidar + 3 4D millimeter-wave radars + 11 cameras, for a total of 27 sensors. The algorithm comes from WeRide's L4-level Robotaxi-derived one-stage end-to-end large model. Official materials show that this solution has won 8 stops in the China Smart Driving Competition. Functions cover urban/highway navigation, urban village traversal, detour by borrowing lanes, nearby parking spot finding, and more.

03 | How to choose the model?

After reviewing the configurations, pick one?

Da Ge listed three recommendations based on needs:

Dada's review

This wave from the Aion Ray7 is very direct: starting at 128,800 yuan, it puts hardware that originally belonged to higher price segments—5-meter body, 8295P cabin, 192-line lidar, Huawei electric drive, and EMB wire-controlled braking—into the 120,000–150,000 yuan price band. It does not rely on flashy gimmicks, but spends cost on the chassis, powertrain, and braking—places that can save lives at critical moments. If the launch price and configurations remain consistent, this car will be very competitive at the same price point. However, the actual performance of the smart driving system and long-term reliability still need to wait until test-drive cars arrive at stores comprehensively before drawing conclusions.
