The 2020 BMW Alpina B3 is a high-performance model built by German tuner Alpina based on the BMW 3 Series (G20/G21), with production beginning in March 2020. On the exterior, it adds Alpina-specific badges and design details on top of the BMW 3 Series, while the interior uses high-quality materials such as premium leather, with the Alpina emblem on the steering wheel. Power comes from a modified 3.0-liter inline-six twin-turbocharged engine featuring Alpina's flow-optimized turbocharger housings, a new cooling system, and new intake ports, producing a maximum output of 462 horsepower and a maximum torque of 700 Nm. The transmission is a ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox, paired with BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The Touring version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 300 km/h. The history of the Alpina B3 can be traced back to 1998, when in December of that year Alpina displayed the B3 3.3 prototype based on the BMW E46 at the Birmingham Motor Show. In 1999, Alpina officially launched the B3 3.3 at the Geneva Motor Show. Since then, Alpina has continued to introduce new B3 models based on different generations of the BMW 3 Series, such as the B3 BiTurbo launched in 2007 based on the BMW 335i (E90), and the B3 launched in 2013 based on the BMW F30.
