On May 8, the BYD Ocean Network's all-new mid-to-large SUV, the Sea Lion 07DM-i, was officially launched. The new vehicle is offered in 3 versions, priced from 169,800 to 205,800 yuan. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, the new car is equipped with BYD's fifth-generation DM technology, the Yun辇-C intelligent damping body control system, and two sets of God's Eye intelligent driving assistance technologies (lidar version and tri-camera vision version). All models can be optionally equipped with the Lingyuan in-car drone system.
In terms of exterior design, the Sea Lion 07DM-i adopts the "Ocean Aesthetics" design philosophy, and the front-end design continues the family design style of BYD Ocean Network models. In terms of details, the wrap-around continuous light cluster on the front face is very eye-catching, and the design inspiration of the full-LED headlights comes from "ocean circulation," which is likewise highly recognizable.
On the side of the body, the Sea Lion 07DM-i creates a sense of power through a straight waistline design and raises the visual center of gravity of the rear. The rear design, like most SUV models, adopts a full shape, with a slender light strip in which the dot-matrix gradient light source progresses layer by layer from large to small and has been treated with a smoked black finish, creating a good sporty feel.
In terms of body dimensions, the new car measures 4880/1920/1750 mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 2820 mm. It is positioned as a mid-to-large SUV.
In terms of interior, the Sea Lion 07DM-i adopts a brand-new "Ocean Aesthetics" design philosophy. The symmetrically laid-out instrument panel design is called "Glacier World," with a black panel running across the entire instrument panel and a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument embedded in it, echoing the 15.6-inch floating Pad and delivering a good visual aesthetic. At the same time, the intelligent driving version of the Sea Lion 07DM-i also adopts a more concise column-mounted gear shifter design. The new car is equipped with the high-end version of the intelligent cockpit—DiLink 100, supporting AI full-scenario intelligent voice interaction and also integrating the DeepSeek large model.
It is worth mentioning that users can create an exclusive cockpit through the "ONE ID" account system. After getting into the car, the system will automatically load the personalized settings corresponding to that user account, such as seat linkage and theme memory.
In terms of configuration, the new car in the interior is equipped with a wide-temperature-range dual-mode refrigerator for both cooling and heating (minimum cooling temperature -6°C, maximum heating temperature 50°C), front seats with 10-point massage function (with five modes and three intensities), electric leg rests, Dynaudio audio, and more.
In terms of driving assistance technology, the Sea Lion 07DM-i is equipped across all versions with God's Eye high-level driving assistance functions, divided according to configuration into two solutions, God's Eye B and God's Eye C, which can realize assisted driving such as urban navigation, highway and expressway navigation, and valet parking. Among them, urban navigation can complete functions such as traffic light passage, obstacle avoidance and detouring, and yielding to pedestrians and non-motor vehicles. Highway and expressway navigation can realize functions such as following navigation, entering and exiting ramps, lane changing/overtaking, and large-curvature cornering.
In terms of power, the Sea Lion 07DM-i is built on BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, with a maximum engine power of 115 kW, a maximum front motor power of 200 kW, and a maximum rear motor power of 150 kW. At the same time, the official statement says that the vehicle's combined range can reach 1320 km with a full tank and full charge, the CLTC pure electric range is up to 150 km, and the NEDC combined-cycle fuel consumption with depleted battery is as low as 4.7 L/100 km.
Since pre-sales began in April this year, this mid-to-large SUV has become a rising hot spot in the same market segment thanks to core highlights such as "God's Eye intelligent driving assistance + Yun辇-C intelligent damping body control system + the world's first in-car drone." Judging from the positioning of the new car, it is not difficult to see that after launch it will compete head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y and Li Auto L6.
