Currently, a pure electric Audi A8 has not yet been launched, and it is ultimately the Audi A8L PHEV that has shouldered all of Audi's new energy responsibilities for its flagship. Even so, the Audi A8L PHEV will still be a transitional model in Audi's new energy journey, ultimately unable to escape its historical fate. But these同样 cannot deny that the Audi A8L PHEV is a luxury model integrating practicality, reliability, and comfort, satisfying people's dual top-tier needs for luxury and new energy.

Since its launch, the Audi A8L PHEV has undergone simple annual minor facelifts and now remains at the 2023 model year, with no further updates.

In terms of exterior, the overall design style of the 2023 Audi A8L PHEV is not much different from the fuel version. It still adopts a hexagonal large-mouth front grille, but is fitted with a honeycomb mesh insert. The LED matrix laser headlights on both sides are paired with the multi-layer front fog light design on both sides of the front bumper, and the overall combination gives the new car a commanding presence.

On the side of the body, the lengthened body of the new car does not look abrupt, and the side is very clean overall. With the embellishment of chrome trim strips and two-tone five-spoke low-drag wheels, the new car looks elegant and imposing. Unlike the fuel version, the PHEV adds a charging port on the left rear wheel arch.

In terms of body dimensions, the new car measures 5302mm/1945mm/1483mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 3128mm.

At the rear, the new car adopts a full-width LED taillight assembly, and the rear bumper has a clear sense of layering. Combined with the dual exhaust layout outlined by chrome trim strips, the new car's presence fits the status of a flagship sedan very well.

In terms of interior, the Audi A8L PHEV adopts a fully digital instrument cluster, paired with an embedded central multimedia touchscreen and a touch-based function control area below, which not only gives the center console design a strong sense of layering but also fills the interior with a sense of technology and luxury.

In terms of configuration, the Audi A8L PHEV comes standard with front 22-way power-adjustable seats with memory function, 4-zone automatic air conditioning, a negative-ion air purifier with fragrance system, front and rear seat heating and ventilation, electric soft-close doors, and a standard B&O sound system, etc. In terms of safety configuration, the new car is equipped with a rich set of driver assistance systems, including the integral pre-sense front system, AVAS acoustic vehicle alert system, air conditioning pre-conditioning function, PEA predictive efficiency assist system, and parking assist system.

In terms of power, the Audi A8L PHEV bears the "60 TFSIe quattor" rear badge, which means the new car is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 3.0T turbocharged V6 engine and an electric motor. The system's combined maximum power is 330kW, peak torque is 700N·m, acceleration from 0-100km/h takes 4.9 seconds, and the pure electric range under NEDC conditions can reach 51km.

Currently, Audi is actively preparing for the launch of a pure electric version of the A8. It is reported that this electric A8, built on the PPE platform, will bring a brand-new driving experience. Its coupe-like architecture design gives it the advantages of low drag and high range, adapting to the needs of electric vehicles. The interior layout is also like a modern home, making people feel as if they are driving in a living room.

In terms of power, it is reported that this new car will be equipped with dual motors, capable of outputting a maximum horsepower of 721Ps and peak torque of nearly 1000N·m, with a theoretical range exceeding 750km.
