On June 27, the all-new M-Hero M817 was officially launched. This large plug-in hybrid SUV, jointly developed by Dongfeng Motor and Huawei, comes in five configuration variants and is equipped with the Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 5 driver assistance system.

The all-new M-Hero M817's exterior is dominated by squared-off, rugged lines throughout. The front fascia features a lion's roar grille paired with "stop war, embrace peace" headlights, with an illuminated M-Hero badge in the center. At the rear, it is equipped with "sword pointing to the sky" cross-shaped taillights, and the tailgate adopts a side-opening design.

Inside, the all-new M-Hero M817 continues the minimalist, rugged style of the current model. The center console lines are straight and orderly, equipped with a two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a 10.25-inch instrument panel, a 15.6-inch central control screen, and a W-HUD head-up display. Below the central control screen, a row of piano-style physical buttons is retained. The lower console area features details such as a wireless charging pad, an exclusive clock, and a grab handle.

The vehicle is equipped with HarmonyOS Cockpit 6.0, supporting four-zone voice interaction, seamless phone-to-vehicle transfer, and multi-screen connectivity. It debuts an intelligent in-car walkie-talkie, enabling a handheld communication range of approximately 5 kilometers in outdoor scenarios. The interior adopts a five-seat layout. The seats in the Max+ and Ultra versions are both upholstered in Nappa leather, equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, and feature a zero-gravity queen passenger seat.

The all-new M-Hero M817 is equipped with the Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 5 driver assistance system. Among the variants, the Mate and Mate+ versions adopt a 192-line LiDAR solution, while the Max, Max+, and Ultra versions are equipped with an 896-line LiDAR. The 896-line LiDAR has a maximum detection range of 120 meters and can identify small obstacles as low as 14 centimeters in height. The system supports continuous point-to-point intelligent driving, NCA assisted driving on unpaved roads, intelligent narrow-road passing and extrication, and reverse tracking, among other functions. On the safety front, it is equipped with Huawei's omnidirectional collision avoidance system CAS 5.0, providing active safety protection.

The all-new M-Hero M817 offers two plug-in hybrid systems: 1.5T and 2.0T. The 1.5T versions (Mate, Mate+) have a combined system power of 505 kW, are equipped with a 31.7 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, deliver a CLTC pure electric range of 140 kilometers, and a combined range of 1,300 kilometers. Among the 2.0T versions, the Max and Max+ have a combined system power of 598 kW, are equipped with a 51.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, deliver a CLTC pure electric range of 215 kilometers, and a combined range of 1,365 kilometers. The Ultra version has a combined system power of 715 kW, is equipped with a 62.5 kWh ternary lithium battery, delivers a CLTC pure electric range of 301 kilometers, and a combined range of 1,450 kilometers.

Xiao Tang's view: The all-new M-Hero M817 adopts a body-on-frame chassis, front and rear double-wishbone independent suspension, and an intelligent four-wheel-drive system, offering a relatively complete setup in terms of off-road hardware. The Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 5 and HarmonyOS Cockpit 6.0 brought by the cooperation with Huawei introduce intelligent driving capabilities to a hardcore off-road model, covering multiple driving scenarios from urban roads to unpaved surfaces, which helps reduce the difficulty of off-road driving and also improves the daily intelligent interaction experience. The zero-gravity queen passenger seat, intelligent heating and cooling refrigerator, and a cabin layout expandable to 2.1 meters add convenience for family outings and long-distance travel. Overall, the all-new M-Hero M817 integrates off-road hardware, Huawei intelligent driving, and comfort features into one package, targeting multi-scenario vehicle usage needs.
